Comprehensive Therapy for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) and Hormone-Related Disorders
I understand firsthand how severe and debilitating Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) and its many symptoms can be. My passion for providing PMDD treatment stems from my own journey with the disorder. Over the past several years, I have worked in a clinical setting with individuals experiencing PMDD, helping them navigate their cycles, manage symptoms, and regain control of their lives.
According to the International Association for Premenstrual Disorders (IAPMD), PMDD is "a cyclical, hormone-based mood disorder with symptoms that occur during the premenstrual (luteal) phase of the menstrual cycle and subside within a few days of menstruation." PMDD affects approximately 5.5% of women and AFAB (assigned female at birth) individuals of reproductive age. While related to the menstrual cycle, PMDD is not caused by a hormone imbalance, but rather a severe negative reaction in the brain to the natural fluctuations of estrogen and progesterone.
As one of the few PMDD-focused therapists in Tennessee, I am dedicated to offering specialized therapy for individuals diagnosed with PMDD or those who suspect they have the disorder. Whether you're seeking a diagnosis or support with treatment, I can guide you in creating a personalized plan to manage your symptoms effectively. Through individual and group therapy, I provide tools, resources, and insights to help you better manage your monthly cycle. With both clinical expertise and personal experience, I offer a unique and compassionate understanding of what you go through each month.
In addition to PMDD, I also work with individuals facing other premenstrual and hormone-related conditions such as PME (premenstrual exacerbation) and PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome).
My PMDD support groups are open to anyone, including women and AFAB individuals, who are seeking support, resources, and a community to navigate their journey.
